The Project

A project that breathes new life into homes, stories, and communities—born from listening to the places and the people—to honor roots and create a new way of living that is open, shared, and able to foster connections and a future.

La Tua Casa a Latronico was born in 2011 from the vision of Vincenzo Castellano, then an ordinary citizen deeply connected to his town and its history. Observing the many empty homes scattered across the area—remnants of past migrations and economic changes—Vincenzo imagined transforming this silent heritage into a living resource.

The idea was clear: to bring the houses back to life through people, creating a bridge between those who had left Latronico and those from around the world seeking an authentic place to live, find balance, or simply breathe again.

In 2012, upon being appointed Deputy Mayor, Vincenzo continued to advance the project with greater operational capacity and a broader vision of social and cultural regeneration.

The arrival of new energies

In 2020, the project welcomed the contribution of Mariangela Tortorella, a professional in communication, territorial marketing, and international relations.
Her arrival introduced not only new expertise, but also a continuous and productive dialogue with the work already underway, weaving together a local vision and a global perspective. From the very beginning, Mariangela recognized in the project a remarkable opportunity to attract an international audience — not only Italians abroad or those returning to their roots, but also people from other countries who look at our villages with fresh eyes, curiosity, and a love for authenticity.
This perspective opened new possibilities for storytelling and development, transforming what may seem ordinary to those who live here into a valuable experiential and cultural resource.

The turning point

In 2021, the project reached a significant turning point: CNN and numerous other international media outlets highlighted it as an example of genuine hospitality and the potential revival of small towns. This global visibility sparked interest from people around the world, many of whom began reaching out to learn about Latronico, visit it, and in some cases, choose it as their new home.

After completing his term as Deputy Mayor in 2022, Vincenzo continued to manage the project alongside Mariangela and the team, bringing renewed enthusiasm. Their combined expertise integrates methodical planning, digital organization, and greater efficiency in property management and in supporting those who decide to relocate or invest in Latronico.

A Network of Homes, Stories, and Opportunities

Over the years, approximately 450 properties have been cataloged, each unique in history, location, and characteristics: stone houses tucked within the alleys of the historic center, homes immersed in the tranquility of the Calda thermal area, residences with sweeping mountain views, and rural houses in the hamlets surrounded by forests.

The project’s platform allows users to explore each property, evaluating its square footage, number of rooms, interior and exterior condition, location, availability of aerial photos, any necessary renovations, and of course, the price. This enables prospective buyers to navigate easily and envision their future home concretely. Most properties are for sale, while some are also available for short- or long-term rental.
